Charleston in the Springtime - April -10th
SENIORS ON THE MOVE - Join Us for A Fantastic 4 DAY -3 NIGHT trip to Charleston, SC
The Best of The Holy City . . . Enjoy the history and beauty known as Charleston, SC.
Experience one of the most historically southern cities, Charleston, SC. The city was founded as Charlestown or Charles Towne, Carolina in 1670 and adopted its present name in 1783. In 1690, Charleston was the fifth largest city in North America, and remained among the ten largest cities in the United States through the 1840 census.Charleston is known as The Holy City due to the prominence of churches on the low-rise cityscape, particularly the numerous steeples which dot the city's skyline, and for the fact that it was the only city in the original thirteen colonies to provide religious tolerance to the French Huguenot Church. In fact, it is still the only city in the U.S. with such a church. You will enjoy the beauty of Azalea Park, the history of Boone Hall plantation, the experience of shopping at the Old Charleston market as well as the "can't miss" traditions of horse drane carriage rides, wonderful foods and the good ole southern hospitality of Charleston. Hurry and reserve your spot today. Members are welcome to invite non-members to travel. We would love nothing more than a bus load of adventurous Carolinians! Should you have questions do not hesitate to contact the Program Director Mary Ked Drive by dialing (704) 282-4688 or via email at mdriver@monroenc.org.
